Expedition Cruising What to Pack

Being comfortable is a top priority during your expedition cruise. The clothing you'll need will depend on the part of the world you'll be visiting. For warm destinations such as the Galapagos and the Amazon, it's a good idea to bring shorts, light pants, both long- and short-sleeved shirts that wick away sweat and a light jacket or sweatshirt for evenings. For cruises to colder climates, such as Antarctica, you’ll need specific cold weather gear. Your Vacations To Go travel agent will work with the tour operator to obtain a comprehensive list of the gear you will need.

Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots are always recommended, as well as thick socks, a swimsuit and waterproof sandals for the beach destinations. A hat, sunglasses, sunblock, insect repellant and a resealable plastic bag to prevent water damage to cameras are all essential items on an expedition cruise.

There are no formal nights on an expedition cruise, and casual or informal dress is appropriate for evenings on the ship.

Remember to pack all of your medications, prescription or otherwise, in a bag you can carry onto your flights.
